Ummmm...

I think I may have made a slight error in judgement. The yarn I ordered for Icarus arrived yesterday. It is beautiful. Cashmere and silk, a creamy white color, gorgeous sheen, ever so slightly fuzzy; in short, perfect. But this is my first experience with laceweight yarn, and, well...am I the only one who thinks there's something wrong with this picture?

Is it really supposed to be thinner than dental floss?!

What have I done?

I am so rendered speechless. Other than texture and color maybe you'll want to do a mock up to practice the pattern in the floss. Yikes.

Sophanne is right. You need to knit a swatch before you get started for real. It takes a little bit to get used to lace weight but remember, you are essentially knitting up a bunch of holes all strung together so it goes faster than you think. As you knit, don't be too upset that your project will look somewhat like those Top Raman noodles before you dunk them into the hot water --- it will block out. It'll be okay. You can do this.
