In Search of a Cure

I have a brand new knitting disease. It's so rare, there is no known treatment or therapy. There isn't even an official name. The good ones, like startitis and second sock syndrome are already taken anyway. You all can tell me what you think it should be called. The symptoms are a complete inability to get around to taking photos and blogging about FO's. I don't have any trouble with project monogamy and there isn't a UFO in the place (in fact, if you look closely at the picture below, you will see that I have finished my new Noro jacket--in less than a week). But there are six FO's waiting for photographs and blog posts! Six! And I'm not talking dishcloths. I mean full-on sweaters! Don't believe me? Look here:

All of these have been finished in the past couple of months and not one of them has even been photographed properly, much less blogged. I laid them all out on the bed this morning so that I would have to deal with them today. I even made arrangements with the resident FOtographer to take modeled shots this morning. But the phone kept ringing and there was lunch to be had and laundry to do and work to handle...and now the FOtographer is on his way out the door, not to return until after dark. I'm starting to worry that my neglected FO's are going to develop insecurity issues. Doesn't she like us? Is there something wrong with us? Aren't we good enough?

So to deal with my mounting guilt, I did this:

Yup. Cast on for another sweater. 'Cause there is no problem so bad that it can't be made worse with wretched excess. This will be a lace-ish cardigan, ala this pattern. I started with it, but I'm using a different gauge, and I wanted to knit it in the round, and I didn't like the way the lace pattern in the original didn't match up at the sides, and I want mine to fit differently, so...you know. I've got 207 stitches on size five circs. This will probably take a little longer than the bulky Noro jacket. Maybe that'll give me time to deal with my new disease. Hey! I know! It's (wait for it...) a FObia!

Ahhh... productivity... I've heard of that before. But finishing something, and not telling the world. Well... that is something new.

Not to mention that it is terribly deceiving to all of us hopeless, no, FOless (yeah, I know, not as good as FObia) knitters who naturally assume that you're just casting on randomly like the rest of us. You're totally messing with my self esteem here.

But I will forgive you... if you those FOtos up pronto! I wanna see!

"get" those FOtos up

ROFL....FObia...that's good! Whatever it is, I wish I had it! My track record for FO's is - ah - less than stellar, let's just say. You amaze me with the quantity and quality of work you do. Sigh. I definitely want to see photos of all those gorgeous sweaters ASAP.

Oh wow! I think I've met my first other monogomous knitter! All the girls on the playground keep teasing me because I like my FOs. *sigh*

You do need to FOtograph them for us though. What's the point of an FO if you can't show it off? (I'm a bit obsessive about fotos. I hate those blank spaces on Ravelry).

I see how it is and why KG gets pissed at you. you share only your disasters.

Also I believe startitis is "politically incorrect" suggesting that it's some sort of disease. I'm on a personal mission to get that word changed to start-o-rama.

I do the same thing- delay picture taking- as can be seen by yesterdays 5-picture post. After a few weeks, I realize that my clever reparte isn't enough and that I better take a few knitting pictures!

Start-o-rama, that's hilarious! Leave it to Becky...

Well, you certainly have been holding out on us, haven't you? I'm going to call you the 'Homestead Knitter'-- your approach to FOs is like a homesteader approaches canning. You take the bounty of summer and sock it away in order to have more for winter!

it's summertime; to hot to be posing in sweaters.

FObia. That's it! You definitely not alone in this Darlin' I too suffer from this cursed affliction. At least we now have a name for it and can get started on our PSA's (which will never be filmed)

Boy, don't I wish I had the problem of not being able to keep up with posting about all my finished sweaters! I'm lucky if I finish a pair of socks now and then these days. :)

I'm no Dr. but I play one in my mind. I'd say you have a severe case of Malignant Camnesia with possible Chronic FOFOfobia. (FOFO because the disease presents with more than one FO). The symptoms should diminish now that took a photo of your FOs in a neat & tidy pile. Maybe Jerry Lewis can host a telethon for you. Nice FOs, BTW!

NICE problem to have! I want to come down with that!

Love FObia! Maybe add in "bloggage", so you have Bloggage FObia or, Docudrag? Or, procrastiknit - no, that would be something else...

Well, if it's not done til it's documented, maybe you have Faux FO Syndrome.

Jealously,
Diane

Incredible, I have yet to finish my one sweater I started, and the second one I started too. Maybe your knits are just a little camera shy.

I like it. FObia.

...there is no problem that can't be made worse with excess..

You made me chuckle and then I thought, there is a lot of truth to that.

Can we start mailing you UFOs to finish?
