Knitting, Anyone?

Yes, I have been trying to distract you so you wouldn't notice the recent dearth of knitting in my posts. I have been knitting; I just haven't been knitting anything interesting. Icarus had a bit of an accident while I was at a SnB, and I only just tinked back and fixed the errors. Nothing new to show you there. The new jacket is not pleasing me. I'm just not loving the texture of the fabric. It's in timeout in the yarn closet and may not see the light of day again. (I knew I should have given it a name. I just can't get attached to something that doesn't have a name.) The twinset from "Knitting Lingerie Style" is going reasonably well, but with only the front completed, there's not much to show.

So how about some yarn pics?

Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in "silver sage," for this (it's worth clicking over to see, and there's a link to the free pattern):

More Cotton Fleece, this time in "teddy bear," for this:

This is "Grecian Plaits" from the new Knitter's. I think this is the first pattern from Knitter's that I've ever wanted to knit, and I want to knit it in a BIG way. The only thing that's kept me from casting on is the nagging suspicion that I would never actually wear it. I did buy yarn for it, though, so it will probably get made.

And Sea Silk in Lily Pond, for Swallowtail:

I've been coveting this yarn for a while. I'm not too sure about the colors. I bought it online, and from the picture it looked like just varying shades of green, but there's actually a lot of pink and blue in it, too. It's a little pastel-y for me, but I'm thinking the lace will probably blend it all together anyway. What do you think?

From the pictures, seems you have a real theme going with your colors---LOVE them all! I had a little hesitation about the variegated Sea Silk too, but I think it's growing on me (I still want to replace that soft green/blue skein that met a horrible fate, though...)

As for timeouts---my last timed-out project found itself in the round file!! :p

I'm thinking that the texture of seasilk and lace of swallowtail will swallow up any pasteliness you're not liking. I've got to look into that seasilk-

I hear you on the grecian pleats. It is tres chic- and yet. At least all body parts appear to be covered.

I likey the yarn and the pattern is good, though on my bod-depressing. I dunno what it is about knitters, but I don't care for about 98% of their patterns, I haven't bought that mag in a few years because of it.But, thats just me...

I like sea silk too, but too bad about the photo you saw before you bought it. Perhaps it is an error on their web site? Still the lace work will be beautiful.

The gregian pleats is a yummy looking pattern. I like it because it is airy, but not too strappy.

I'm excited/fearing the day he starts walking. I work from home 3 days a week, and it's really hard trying to keep up with him! He loves to get into EVERYTHING :) The Sea Silk is beautiful. And I think lace will definitely soften the colors because in the Swallowtail there are so many holes, the colors won't look as brilliant as they do in the skein. It will be neat to see what colors pop up when you do the "nupps". Good luck with that! I love the Grecian Plaits sweater, what do you think of the Cotton Fleece, I've never used that yarn before.

I thought it was funny that you and I picked out the same pattern to knit from Knitters. I saw that top and have moved it into the "projects to complete" lineup. I will be shopping for the yarn as soon as I get to Washington. I love Sea Silk. The colors are just so soothing. Can't wait to see what you knit.

"What do you think?" I think I'm in love! Both the Sea Silk and the first tank top.... {romantic sigh}. The grecian thing's cute too!

Oh wow, the Grecian Plaits pattern looks like it would actually be worth buying that magazine! Pretty.

The Sea Silk will make a lovely Swallowtail shawl. I have two skeins in my stash and am still searching for the perfect pattern.
