Fit Testing

Since I know you all are waiting with baited breath to see how my fit experiment is working with the Gathered Pullover, I took some in-progress shots in the mirror.

I have about a 35" bust (with a bra), and I am following the directions for the 32" size. With my gauge, the actual measurement is about 33.5".

I added waist shaping to draw in the waist about four inches. I also lengthened the body by about three inches. This may have been too much. I don't suffer from the same lack of curves on my lower body as I do on my upper body, and I'm afraid the rolled bottom hits in a place that makes my hips appear even wider--something I try to avoid. But the bust does fit, despite the mythical negative ease that I can never quite accept.

I am a little ambivalent about the shape. I usually prefer clothes that skim rather than cling. But it is not "too small," as I feared. I will have to continue with the sleeves and finishing to judge whether this is a top I can wear, but so far, my experiment appears to be a success.

I'd call that a success, too!

I think it looks great, very flattering on you! You have a great figure, don't be afraid of negative ease!

What a great cable detail! It aids in fitting as well as being flattering - are there any cables on the sleeves? I can see this with slightly belled sleeves. Very pretty and great modifying of the pattern. You're a braver woman than I!

This looks MARVELOUS!! I'm doubting your critique of your lower regions though. Me thinks you need to readdress that assessment, you have a beautiful shape. A rolled edge isn't the best for a hemline at the hip, but it NOT because of your hips it's the rolled hems's fault. Rolled edges will give a Michelin man flavor to any part of the body!

Honestly, you look fabulous!

it's beautiful and you wear all of your FO's so well. I'm sure this one will be lovely also when it's finished.

Does look good.

You could always pick up the stitches above the hem and remove any extra length you don't want.

I think it looks great! You can always block a tiny bit of ease into it if you want when you are done.

Looks good to me! That would even look good as a tank, I think. Very cute shaping, and you wear it well.

Awesome fit! It looks great on you! I don't think it hits your hips in a bad spot at all. Blocking it longer could provide some psychological comfort. Bravo!!

I like the way it looks so fitted. All the other gathered pullovers I've seen were far too loose for my taste. Well done so far!

I'm so glad the sizing worked out! I think it looks great on your hips also. Very curvaceous! I prefer to accentuate my curves instead of hiding them anyway. Can't wait to see it when it's done!
