...to let you know we are okay. Thank you all for your thoughts and concern. It has been a very difficult week for us and for the rest of our city. Our evacuation order has been lifted and the neighborhood has returned home. We are now busy trying to clean up monstrous amounts of very fine, sticky ash that coats everything like so much filthy, black baby powder. I don't mind at all, since the fact that I am cleaning my house, yard, driveway, and car means that I still have a house, yard, driveway, and car to clean, unlike many people in San Diego. But man, I am tired.
Knitting content will resume shortly.

I'm so glad you are all safe. I can't imagine what you all have been going through. You are in our thoughts and hearts here in Georgia.
Oh ick. Just can't imagine the cleaning...uggh!
Um...it didn't get on the yarn did it?
Rain would be good. Lots and lots of rain.
Just glad you guys made home okay. Sounds like the Southeast AND the Southwest could use a bit of heavy precipitation.
Really, really glad you're ok.
So glad you're okay. Take care.
I'm glad you are home safe and sound. I didn't even realize that you were that close to the fire areas! At any rate, I'm glad that you and the family are home.
thanks for the update- I agree- cleaning is better than being homeless.
Glad to hear you are back home (and that the home is still there!) My little sister works at the SD Wild Animal Park and is doing the same cleanup routine. Fingers crossed for some rain!
Whew, the worst is over, I am so glad for you. What a mess.
First - oh I'm SO glad you're there and only slightly scathed; second, thank you for your attitude. You're right, absolutely - but there are those (!) who complain in such circumstances. Here in Wisconsin we have disasters too, but not of that cailbre usually, and not of that sort. I'm doing a happy dance to read your post. And sending prayers for your fellow californios, one and all.
So glad to hear that you're safe.
Very relieved to read your post. I hope it never gets that bad again!
What a relief to be safe and have your home be okay. My friend who lives in Escondido was evacuated, but her house is okay too. I imagine we'll all be more grateful this Thanksgiving!
Can't wait for you to have fresh air again.
