Don't worry - that's small compared to some knitters I know! And sock yarn can be used for more than just socks... how about some shawls to go with your pretty skirts!
How about a giveaway: if Los Pen Academy wins the Pepsi grant, you could share some of the sock yarn love! This way you get everyone who reads your blog to vote for Los Pen every day till April 30. (Did you see you can download a "vote" widget for your blog?)
Its also nice for lace knitting as well. And fingerless gloves too. Not that living in CA you need that but just sayin'...(can you tell I've been looking for other ways to widdle my sock yarn stash down?)
I don't knit socks with sock yarn, but I'm currently knitting a shawl! I have a few skeins of sock yarn from last summer's Sock Summit (I didn't buy them), so I'll ahve to find other alternate projects.
Recent history would indicate that you are, in fact, somewhat of a sock knitter. Besides, sock yarn does make lovely scarves, and shawls, and fingerless mitts, and baby caps, and...and....you get the picture! I'm sure it will all be put to good use.
Sock yarn is a sickness for which there is no cure. It's best just to give in to it. Otherwise, it gets mad and makes you buy even more. That's when sock yarn just arrives at your house with no memory of ordering it.
I don't make socks either and I thought that the 8 or so skeins I'd accumulated were a lot! I did make some baby booties and they weren't bad. Maybe you should give a pair a try? easy ones? lol
