The same thing happened in seventh and eighth grade with my stepson. Both years he started strong, then "bit it" on the grades for awhile and suddenly (and probably just barely) pulled a decent gpa out of thin air. Gives ya hope right?
Yes, my Texting Queen got one too and my husband and I were stunned!! We sort or rained on her parade a little bit with some "Well, you know, this doesn't change....blah blah":)

Yay for kids pulling it out of their, um, ear just in time. Good for The Kid. (My own Elder Son is doing that in med school even as I type.)
