And from experience, losing your home and belongings to fire is quite unfun. I really feel for all the folks that are being affected by this one.Melhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12440682058585122650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2443300355315157565.post-28037376156167957472007-10-25T07:45:00.000-07:002007-10-25T07:45:00.000-07:00I'm so glad to read that!I'm so glad to read that!Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07583024164286542774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2443300355315157565.post-25844261488622717932007-10-25T07:21:00.000-07:002007-10-25T07:21:00.000-07:00Awesome news! We did evacuate early Monday, after losing power Sunday night and hearing of mandatory evacuations of North Poway in the middle of the night. We wandered from North Poway (fire very close) to Scripps Poway Parkway (fire coming, must leave) to University City (fire might come, time to move) to Anaheim Hills (no hotel w/in 50 miles of San Diego), with three kids and one nervous Golden Retriever. Yesterday we left Anaheim Hills, since the hotel was full for that night (but we were okay with that b/c we saw they were giving rooms to firefighters from the fire in Irvine), and we had found a room at the Marriott in Coronado Island (I assured my kids that the fire couldn't jump the bay). This morning my husband went up to Julian to help at the California Wolf Center, while we watched the news and decided that we could probably return to our home. We were pretty sure the house was still there since my son kept calling home and getting the answer machine, so we figured the kitchen was at least okay. It turned out that the rest of the house is okay too, with a pretty thick layer of dust and ash everywhere, but still here. Several of our friends were not so lucky. Each of my older kids (17 and 14) have pretty close friends who have lost everything - a very sobering situation. We are cleaning up, thanking God that we are okay, and trying to figure out what we can do to help.
So glad that you and yours are safe and your son will be warm this winter in his new sweater.
Patricepatricehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14509524513784031504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2443300355315157565.post-61930006231431282292007-10-24T18:45:00.000-07:002007-10-24T18:45:00.000-07:00I am sooooooo glad!!!I am sooooooo glad!!!Quail Hill Knitshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09124002263514806105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2443300355315157565.post-25236426535549145222007-10-24T18:21:00.000-07:002007-10-24T18:21:00.000-07:00good newsgood newsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2443300355315157565.post-52722268603431844312007-10-24T18:18:00.000-07:002007-10-24T18:18:00.000-07:00Phew!!!
