Remember this?

This was my ill-fated
Autumn Leaves. Great yarn, great pattern, not so great together. Like ketchup and peanut butter. After taking this picture, I buried it at the bottom of a stack of sweaters and moved on. But I find it difficult to accept failure, so I thought I'd try at least fixing the color. I threw it in the dyepot with some brown RIT dye. Oddly, the dye didn't cover the existing color; it just sort of darkened and toned it down. Here's the after:

I think it's...better. Here's a closeup of the new color:

I'm still not sure about the style. I can't decide whether it's sort of cute or really frumpy, like a housecoat.

Any thoughts?
That color is fantastic! I think it could be really cute with some jeans and maybe a camisole type top underneath. Kind of hard to tell from the photos though :)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks good--the silhouette is very much in style. I'd have to see it on you though!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely much better colour.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other posts: hard to tell if it would be stylish or not without seeing it on you.
Amazing color. I'd pay money for it. I don't think it's frumpy- I'm calling it trendy.
ReplyDeleteNice dress form btw :)
ReplyDeleteThe color is much better now, but to see if it's frumpy or not you'd have to model it for us. I think it could go either way, depending on how you fill it out.
ReplyDeleteI for one would need to see a modeled shot to decide. Totally LOVE the new color!!
ReplyDeleteI think its cute!
ReplyDeletenew color is much better. would like to see it on you!
ReplyDeleteI really like the new colour. My own opinion is that textured patterns and multicoloured yarn don't go well together. I think this garment shape and pattern are fine but better done in a plain colourway.
ReplyDeleteFascinating how the dye job worked out. Very nice. Like everyone else, hard to tell without seeing it 'live', but I do like the shape in general.
ReplyDeleteA vast improvement and not frumpy at all. It's wonderful and wearable now that you've done your dye magic.
ReplyDeleteNot my style at all - can't stand 3/4 length sleeves on anything - but the color is much improved.
ReplyDeleteI really like what the brown dye did for the color. It toned down that acid green color and I think that has made a huge difference.
ReplyDeleteI also like the style, I think its adorable. Maybe some kind of cute closure at the top would make it feel more with-the-times to you?
you crack me up.
ReplyDeletei think it's cute.
it's no longer day glo! I like the new, muted colorway and the style is very cute, not housecoat frumpy at all.
ReplyDeleteGreat colour, but really, I think we need to see it on you. I don't wear things like that very well--they just make me look dorky, but you're tall and lean and it could be perfect on you.
